AP History credit useless?

I understand the merits of getting AP credit in other subjects, but what does the history credits get you? The website says you get 1 unit of AP for a 4/5 in a history test but it can't place you into any classes or fulfull distribution reqs. Would the only reason to take AP History tests be to count that credit towards getting advanced standing? Am I missing something or is the credit useless for those of us planning on graduating in the normal amount of time?

yes, it's useless unless you want advanced placement. feel free to save yourself 80 bucks.

Thanks. I appreciate it...

then which AP exams are actually worth taking if one doesnt want advanced standing?

Physics, Chem, Calc because they will help you place into classes

Taking a science AP w/lab will also reduce the ST (Sci and Tech) requirement.

Chem is definitely important for anyone considering premed.

mzhang, what freshman math class do you recommend for someone (me) who got a 5 on Calc AB last year (junior year) but is taking Stat this year? I don't know all the calc BC stuff, plus a year off from calc in general will probably cause to forget many nuances. I don't want to take something brutally hard because I'm "qualifed" on paper, just to find out that i could have benefited from taking an easier class.

Probably MAT 104, which is the equivalent of BC Calc in one semester.

what about the AP englishs? Are they useless too? I guess there's no intro to english/history class to bypass w/ an AP credit, eh?
