I feel pretty good about today. I understood everything, but of course I'm scared that I fell into traps. My essays were great though, especially because we just so happened to talk a lot about what the 3rd essay asked for for one of our books...like 2 weeks ago! lol yaaa

grr i hated that country side one. i made up a bulls@#$ metaphor about a farm for madame bovary since i read very (very, very, very) few books this year since most were written by dead white europeans who in my opinion were sell outs (grrr Ibsen!!). then the victorian one was very funny...i ripped apart the characters. but i think i hated the poem the most. i think i'll be fine since i fell asleep during the multiple choice...it felt strange but i was done 30 mins early so i just napped :) i'm sure i did fine but...i dont know. i really couldnt care less..high schools over

I'm one of those losers who when I finish edit until the times over, even if that means like 5 edits (lol). So I finished the essays really early and went back to the 1st one and added 2 more paragraphs, and then edited the rest like 5 times. I got to write WAY more than I thought I had time to for them all. I finished about 15 minutes early for multiple choice and then edited. The third essay was like a miracle for me. I had a giant smile when I read it. We had JUST talked about it. My class has read/analyzed 10 books this year so I was really prepared.
By the end of the test I couldn't see straight (distances). I could barely look across the room. When I went to Subway they were like "what would you like", I was like "ummmmm....uhhhhh...." lol. I feel REALLY bad for the people who had to do AP Spanish and then AP Prob and Stats in a row Tuesday (I know like 4 people who did)...poor souls lol.

we read a whole bunch of "the reality of th eamerican dream" and "society" types of books. some were mind blowing for me (fathers and sons & great gatsby & death of salesman) my only motivation to do well today was to make my teacher look good because she is without a doubt the best one in my school...i wish i had time to edit my essays but i never do anyway. i just ...write. what book did you end up using for the country side one?

Frankenstein! It was really perfect for it, and it was the 2nd to last book we read. Altogether (in order) we read...

Babbit
The Invisible Man
Hamlet
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
The Tempest
The Stranger
Gulliver's Travels
Frankenstein
Great Expectations

...wow I can't remember the tenth book LOL! And now we are going to read Siddhartha for fun.

argg i'm envious.. we're reading franknstein as our post ap, jack off all you want book. we read some good ones thought. in total we read over 25 i believe. heres a little sample to tempt you :p

-Huck Finn (remind you of apple pie and fireworks)
-Cherry Orchard (didnt even read)
-Hedda Gabler (another loser female protagonist)
-Candide (voltaire, WOW soooo good)
-Crime and Punishment (siberian prisons and born again christianity)
-Madame Bovary (prostituion, enough said)
-Odepuis at Colonius
-Odepuis Rex
-Medusa
-Antigone
-Julius Caesar (et tu brute?)

-Death of Salesman (similar to gatsby)
-Metamorphosis (very awesome!)
-etc, etc, etc, etc

most of the books you read this year, i read for language last year. great expections was so dense and we read this one as a summer reading assignment for 10th grade after middle school--still i dont htink i'll ever forget MISS havisham and pip! (who names their kid pip?! thats just setting them up for a life time of name calling and psychological scars)

in retrospect, i'm gald we read the books we did but it was soooooo intensive. and in the middle of that, around christmas break, our teacher gave us a little treat- a twenty -two page research paper

Wow thats a lot. I guess we just went more in-depth with them. We analyzed every single chapter and did lots of essays from prior ap prompts for each one. Then some of the time was spent on test-prep (poetry and such). Thats a soooo many books by the way again lol. -Huck Finn and Great Gatsby were last year. My fav were Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (amazzzzing), Frankenstein (obviously very well written) , hopefully Siddhartha, and at times Gulliver's Travels and The Stranger...

siddharta was good. i liked it from last year. it was short ans sweet

lol great expectations.

we had to read that the summer before 9th grade. and when the first day of school came around, everyone thought that the language arts teacher seemed like a real-life miss havisham. like she just looked like a miss havisham.

that was just a looooooooooong book. so unnecessary lol

about that ap lit test today... let's just say i'm thankful i read tess of the d'urbervilles, since i actually enjoyed it and i could fit the country theme into it haha

It's not that long... I also kinda liked it since I got to read it during vacation so it wasn't one of those forced afterschool reading situations. Maybe my "bad" meter has just been tainted by Babbitt lol.

well if you were a middle schooler going into high school, you'd think it was long too :P

lol I guess. I just say it's the shortest because this time we actually got to pick our own books and that was one of the shortest of the selection haha. Some were 500 sumtin pages, etc. so I was like ya...AP Tests are coming up and I'm a senior, which book to choose...lol
