AP Lit. and Composition

This class is really starting to make me worry. Although there isn't really a strict syllabus for it, I'm sure our class is dragging behind. How much homework do you guys usually get in here? We hardly ever get any - usually about a hour of reading daily. I have an easy going teacher, and I don't feel prepared (We're already half way through the year!). So far, we've ready a few books, written a couple essays, and done poetry. Our teacher is extremely nice and all, but damn, I don't feel like I'm doing anything.

Oh, also, could any of you give me suggestions for prep books?

Lit analysis timed writing everyweek, practiced a LOT of commentary, memorizing lit devices, reading a lot of stuff, class discussions, homework every night-reader's journal-spot the lit devices, blah blah blah, and lots of class lectures.

My teacher uses "Five steps to a five in Lit" and the one that's green and "five steps to a five in essay" or something. ANd the barrons review.
