AP Music Theory 2011

5 should end in a V-VI, my handwriting is just atrocious. I don’t think it matters what voice does the suspension, as long as you aren’t breaking partwriting rules. I don’t even have my green sheet in front of me, which I did write my answers in, so I don’t even know if these are what I put on the actual exam. My #7 was better on the actual exam, that’s for sure.

For some reason I had hard time distinguishing between V and V7 chords on the harmonic dictations, so I probably missed a couple of those. For some reason, a few other competent students in my class said that the altered chord was a V43/ii, not a V42/ii…can anyone verify or deny that it’s a V42/ii?

Well, I know bass was F-natural and soprano was B-natural. So it would be a G major triad with a seventh. I think it’s 3rd inversion, since F’s on bottom so 42.

Alright, thank you! Man, I enjoyed taking this test…I’m such a theory nerd, but I suppose that’s a result of me going to a performing arts school.

I enjoyed stuff where I could use my perfect pitch. The rest, not so much. :stuck_out_tongue:

But it was definitely an experience. I mean, where else can you take such a comprehensive exam on music?

You’re so unbelievably lucky for having perfect pitch. I have relative pitch - albeit, very strong relative pitch - and it just makes me jelly when other people can pick out melodies without needing a starting note. :P

I thought it went pretty well overall… thought 2nd dictation was hard but nailed it. My testing location had crappy speakers and i found it very difficult to hear the bass notes at all… even though “mega bass” was “ON” on the boombox…

still reasoned through it and i’m pretty sure i did fine on it. i also got a V42/ii for that FRQ that is being discussed…

The K pop was very interesting and it is seared into my mind

Yeah the k-pop was awesome. I’ve done a little research and I think it may be by a group called ANYA.
The test was easy as far as I could tell. I loved the comp. Section. Of course I always have fun in comp. (Because I’m a composer myself). That fi in the sightsinging wrecked my life though, when I saw that I was like, “screw sol-fetch, relitive pitch don’t fail me now!”

^Can’t seem to find ANYA on Wikipedia or YouTube. But I could definitely recognize the song if someone sent me the right YouTube link or something.

The Korean thing really weirded me out.

It’s ANAYA, not ANYA.

Here’s a link to a site with one of their sample songs. The beginning sounds really similar to the one on the test, but it’s sung by a woman.

[Group ANAYA](http://schedule.sxsw.com/events/event_MS13243)

Not the one on the test, unfortunately. Do you have a link to an official site or YouTube links to some of their songs?

EDIT: After listening to some other songs by this band on YouTube, it doesn’t seem like this band (which uses a lot of traditional instruments as opposed to the drums, trumpets, flute, and sax on the exam) is it. :/

Just bumping these. I’m comparing with the scoring guidelines and I’m 99% positive I got a perfect score. If I missed any points, it’d be on #7.

Was the Korean song that bad? It sounds like a lot of people found it hilarious/weird. :/

I don’t know who it is that found this, but I randomly saw this on reddit:
[Seulgidoong - sogeum gangsu (???- ???) - YouTube](<a href=“Seulgidoong - sogeum gangsu (슬기둥- 소금장수) - YouTube”>Seulgidoong - sogeum gangsu (슬기둥- 소금장수) - YouTube)

^Woah. This is perfect. How in the world…?

Yesssssssssssss!
