AP National Scholar going away?

On July 1, in a Twitter response to a question about the National Scholar award causing issues, Trevor Packer responded “Exactly, that’s why we’re eliminating it”.

To a follow up question, he responded “Yes, we’re discontinuing the award for the upcoming academic year, not for the past academic year.”

Now, 2+ months later, when (accelerated) applications for this year’s exams are being started, I reached out to CB for clarification. All I received was a cut and paste of the qualification criteria for the award.

Anyone have updates on Mr. Packer’s statement?

(A cynic might think that they are holding off announcing any changes until they collect all of the fees for this year’s exams.)

I contacted CB and they said they still have it

I guess the cynic in you was right. Although they are still keeping the National AP scholar awards (meaningless that they are) for another year.

Sad but true.

I created another thread confirming the changes, rather than continuing this older one with the question.
