AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based (2015-2016)

@Walaoeh I believe you need about a 75% for a 5

Which is a total guess, because nobody knows except the College Board, and they are not telling. IMO, the percentage is for a 5 is lower than that, but I’m just guessing as well.

@skieurope is correct. @Walaoeh 75% seems too high; I would venture to say that it’s slightly lower than 71% or still 71% because the percentage of 5s only increased .2% and that was the cutoff last year. Scores come out any day now, so I can’t wait to stop waiting!

Lol I got a 3…don’t hate me. Happy I passed, but my teacher was crap not to mention I got 5s on every other exam

Man I am so freaking glad I got a 5 on this exam. I actually thought I got a 4. The AP Physics 1 exam is no joke. About 90% of my AP Physics 1 class probably got a 2-3 because they were just unprepared for the level of difficulty on the exam.

Not sure how other schools work but our AP Physics 1 class was very math heavy and we relied on our calclators a lot. However the AP Exam was heavily conceptual which probably fuked up everybody. You really have to study on the side to pass

@angelbill5914 mad props man! Glad you succeeded!

Got a dumb 3, 5s on everything else. Mad.

I know that last year the composite score to get a 5 was a 70%, but nobody knows what CC decided to do this year!

Lol 2 on this, 5s on all others.

Made a bunch of careless mistakes and still pulled out an easy 5, 5 on this, apush, lang (easiest exam of my life) and both econs, collegeboard needs to step it up cuz my econ class only covered macro and there was no reason for a 5 on micro, lmao

Pretty sure AP Physics 1 has the lowest percentage of people getting 5s. The exam is mad hard if you don’t prepare well.

If you didn’t do well on this test, but you passed. Does it look bad to colleges. I mean does it affect your chances of going to a top college?

I got a 2 and I’m not surprised because my teacher did not prepare us for it at all. I’m really disappointed though and I’m not sure if its worth retaking the exam especially since I want to apply to top colleges.

@Anonymous261 @seaberry No need to worry, top colleges probably don’t even take this class, anyway. The class is almost worthless to begin with.

Got a 5, not surprised.

Regardless of your score, zero top colleges offer credit for AP Physics 1. In the grand scheme of things, as an introductory college level class to physics, it does not matter much how well you do on the exam. My physics teacher, despite having prepared us rigorously throughout the year for this exam, even admitted this himself. It doesn’t matter in the long run if you pass or not. Deep breaths!

Thanks @legalpad12 !

I’m taking physics honors this year and am thinking about studying for the AP Physics 1 test at the end of the year because my school doesn’t offer AP Physics 1, just honors. I talked with the physics teacher at my school, and turns out the curriculum in honors versus AP is very similar, so he thinks it’s doable. Any prep books you guys recommend? I was thinking about getting the AP Physics 1 Essentials: An APlusPhysics Guide. It seems to have very good reviews on Amazon. Any other suggestions? Thanks! Good job to all of you who took the exam this year!

While many top colleges will not grant credit, to say that “zero top colleges offer credit” is blatantly incorrect.

My son is planning to take this class as a junior (it replaced Honors Physics at his school) - is the class hard, or is it just the exam?
