AP Physics 1 or AP Computer Science?

I’m planning to major in Computer Engineering/Computer Science in college.

I’m a rising senior. My grades in regular physics were a 90 and an 88, respectively, so I was hoping that taking AP Physics and focusing a little more on it this year will raise my grades a little higher and give a little more credit to my physics background.

My school recently added AP Computer Science, and they said only kids with low math scores automatically get put into that class (which makes no sense) but I really want to take it.

I was also planning on attaching 2 app games that I created onto my college resume, so does that make up for the coding background if I don’t take AP Comp Sci? I’ve never been in any coding/robotics club or activity.

Also dropping AP Physics means I won’t have a science this year, so doesn’t 3 years of science instead of 4 look bad if you’re applying for engineering? AP Comp Sci counts as a math in my school.

Thanks!

I doubt it’ll make a huge difference for admissions. Check with your guidance counselor that you get the 'mist rigorous ’ check. If so : Pick what you like best.

Imo AP Comp Sci is a more valuable class than AP Physics 1, especially if you’re interested in computer science. You probably won’t receive college credit for Physics 1 but will probably receive credit for Comp Sci.

I would take AP Comp Sci to give yourself more exposure to CS. You have already taken physics so you are good there. I would take another math (have you done calculus?) because you will need to for CS in college.
I would also try to take AP Chem or AP physics. STEM schools will expect this.
