I’ve never taken physics before and my dumb ass decided to go straight into AP Physics C for some reason. I failed the first test. Should I drop down to a lower lane? Also, do you guys have any resources (websites/youtube channels/etc) that you recommend? Thank you.
What classes are you taking this year and the years before? What grade are you in?
@IAmNotCreativ I’m a senior and I’m taking AP Lit, AP BC Calc, AP Bio, AP Psych, and law in addition to AP Physics C. I took honors English, Pre-calc honors, AP Chemistry, AP Spanish, APUSH, and AP CS last year.
BC Calc should catch up with and surpass Physics C- Mechanics relatively quickly. In the meantime, you should fill the gap with Khan Academy (a website, if you’re unfamiliar! here is link: https://www.khanacademy.org/math/calculus-home . Specific videos to watch: power rule, polynomial functions differentiation, antiderivatives); you won’t need much more than basic derivatives/antiderivatives for a while (unless your class covers E&M). Your physics teacher should also be able to help.
If none of that works, you could definitely switch to honors physics (although at this point the class might leave an Incomplete on your transcript).
@OMPursuit thanks for the sources! The math is fine for me; I’m having trouble with the physics.
Oh, cool! In that case, I have some more recommendations…
Khan Academy also has videos on calculus-based physics. Those might help.
OpenStax has free, online textbooks with good practice problems. Those might help.
And if you PM me, I can give you some tips or more specific resources for any particularly tricky concepts.
I still super recommend you chat with your physics teacher about the material. Often enough, physics teachers are really cool. :0
@OMPursuit thank you!! Yeah, you’re right, my physics teacher was super nice about everything and recommended that I stay in the lane.
