I’m going into my junior year and I’m NOT a science person. I have taken Bio, Chem, and Earth Science and now I’m conflicted between the two classes. AP Physics 1 is known to be tough at my school as the class it self is pretty hard and the teacher has a rep for being an okay teacher, hence a lot of people having to self study because often times they don’t understand her. However, the class does not have an enourmous amount of busy work (still a lot of work), and there’s labs and curves on quizzes. Safe to say with hard work I MAY be able to get a B (btw I’m not a math person either but I perform very well in it and I will be taking pre-calc next year). AP Environmental Science is an easier class but it is also considered a “fluff” class. This class has tons of busy work but the tests shouldn’t be as hard as AP Physics; I may be able to pull of an A. I have no interest in either class whatsoever. If I take AP Physics my junior year i’ll take AP Environmental my senior year and vice versa.
Considering the self-studying for AP Physics and the busy-work for AP Environmental I’m afraid I won’t be able to manage because of ECs, and I will be taking AP Stats and AP Micro online (after school) as well as self studying for AP Italian.
I have the choice to take physics honors or AICE environmental management (and definitely get an A in both) but AICE environmental is often looked down upon and the teacher assigns lots of research papers and I don’t think I have time for it. I slacked off my freshman year and now I’m stuck with a few B’s in my transcript. I really need a rigorous science class in which I can get an A in as well as a rigorous junior year schedule. I’m not planning to major in either of the subjects or any math. I’m really interested in CS, Media, Law, and Business.
Which class should I take?
Honors physics. Are you sure you have time to do a good job with the online course and the self studying for italian- maybe these are not necessary.
I’m starting AP micro over the summer and I’m sure I’ll manage with online stats as lots of people say it’s pretty easy. Italian is my first language and I really want (and need) to take the ap italian exam because the college I want to get into is fairly competitive so I need a foreign language credit. I’m currently enrolled in spanish 2, but my teacher was only here at beginning of the school year and left us right before winter break with a bunch of busy work (review of spanish 1); we didn’t learn anything and so I will not be able to go onto spanish 3 (which is honors level).
I would suggest taking Honors Physics as well.
Colleges want to see you take Bio, Chem and Physics. Its okay not to take an AP version of something you are not particularly planning on continuing in college
