AP Physics

On the Columbia placement bulletin, it says that credit is given for AP Physics, but that it doesn't count toward getting out of the Core. Does this mean that taking AP Phys. would be useless unless you're going to be a science major?

You get some credits, but it will most likely have absolutely no effect on your education at Columbia, unless you plan on graduating early or something. Taking the AP course will show dedication, etc. which is something that selective colleges enjoy seeing. The test will do little more than help you become eligible for a harder freshman physics sequence.
