AP Spanish

when i was reading the questions i was like.. did they really interview Penelope Cruz or something??? but when the actual interview came out from the tape.. i was like lol.. that SOOOOOO does not sound like her.

... are they even allowed to do that (I mean have someone pretend to be penelope cruz...)? isn't that like identity theft or something?

right now, im consoling myself that at least i'm pretty sure i didnt get a 1 thanks to a decent essay.... im estimating a 2 range... ='[

I was actually able to understand all of the questions in the directed response... except that didnt help the fact that i can't speak at all and stuttered horribly. Oh, and for one of the questions, i think it was number 3 or somehting, i understood it, and then i completely blanked, and forgot the question as I was trying to answer it... i said something like "pues... creo que... (15 sec pause) o!, creo que la tecnologia [end of alloted time]". And the questions were sooo random....

I did that a lot. Stumbled at the beginning, then finally got going right before the time was up. For some of those questions, I'm not sure I could have answered them well in English in 20 seconds! For one thing, they were random. Also, its a test situation, and you get flustered easily.

My Spanish teacher made so much fun of the listening.

Penelope Cruz: Thoy felith... mi mehor amiga eth Thalmah Hiyak...

But yeah. The AP went okay, not as good as I hoped it would. The listening was awful, especially since I thought it would be the easiest part. I had to guess on a lot of them. The reading comprehension was pretty bad too. The passages weren't too difficult, but I was between two answers on a lot of the questions. I left three blank because my proctor didn't give us a five minute warning, and I had left three questions unanswered because I wasn't sure about them, and I wanted to go back to them when we had five minutes left.

The grammar was easy, but I still made stupid mistakes. The essay topic was awesome - there was so much to say about it. Brainless tema. I think I wrote one of my best essays. The speaking was really easy, but I kept going over time and getting cut off by the beep. I think I made a few verb tense mistakes as well.

you guys need to stop freaking out about penelope cruz. they said it was an ADAPTATION of an interview with her. they just had someone spanish read her part because she's spanish, so obviously the woman had a spanish accent. get ooover it.

does anyone know how each component is weighted/scored?

my friend took this, at school. one of our vice principals was administering the exam, and he nearly forgot to give them their ap labels. then in the middle of the speaking part someone came on the intercom and made some announcement. hehe.

was it only me or did the reading seem to be a lot harder than the released 03 exam? Not only were there more pasages, but the langauge seemed a lot more advanced.

As for the weighting, I'm expecting the listening to be weighted around 1.28 and the reading 1.11 (for a total of 90). The free response/speaking should stay the same.

Does anybody think the curves are going to be steeper this year? (hopefully?)

It sucked...I definitely got a 1. None of us could understand the guy on the oral part when he asked the five questions...We rambled about happiness. I know there was one situation in which you had a sick friend. What were the others?

something like...
1. What do you do every day to make others happy?
2. Don't remember.
3. Your friend Guami is depressed. What advice would you give to him?
4. Are people happier or less happy in this age of technology and why?
5. How would you try to relieve the sadness of a friend?

i'm pretty sure that's how it went. i was annoyed that they were all basically the same because i repeated myself so much. and i wish we had more than 20 seconds to talk.

me too. great so we all have had 4/5 yrs. of spanish so no what's next?

yeah. 4 yrs of spanish, and still barely know the language.

I'm hoping for a 3...

uh oh. i totally interpreted the directed response questions differently. gahhh. this is what i thought they were:

What do you think contributes to the happiness of others?

Can't remember either.

Your friend is depressed. How do you cheer them up? (i guess this is your number 5)

Are people happier or less happy in this age of technology and why? (agree)

Why is it important to relieve the sadness of other people as well?

Are these questions posted on the AP website yet?

The questions ARE up. I was a fool on the first question, but the rest were OK:
