AP Stat vs. AP Psych

Which is harder (so I can take it)? Which do college admissions officers think is harder (hopefully same answer)? I want to take both Stat and Psych in the near future, the only difference is in which one I take in high school and which I take in college.

The students at my kids' high schools view both AP Psych and AP Stat as being among the easier APs because each of these courses is intended to be equivalent to a one-semester college course.

The "hard" APs are those intended to be equivalent to a two-semester college course, such as AP Biology and AP U.S. History.

Psych isn't very hard. I'm glad I took it and did well on the test, since Psych 101 is notoriously always one of the most popular (and therefore one of the largest) classes at most colleges. So it's nice not to have to deal with that.

Statistics may be seen as the tougher course by college admissions counselors, as long as you're not opting to take it instead of Calc or something.

What is your intended major? If you're thinking of going into psych or some related field, then it may be in your best interest to take that. Likewise, if you're thinking about going into math/science, then stats may be more relevant to your future studies... Although both subjects overlap in some areas.

Also, I've heard of a lot of people self-studying AP Psych... People buy themselves a textbook or AP study guide and teach themselves the material, and then take the AP test in May, even though they weren't enrolled in the class. It takes some diligence and hard work on the student's part, but it's definitely something that can be done with psych. So that might be a good compromise for you.

Thanks for the good advice, both of you. I will be taking Calc next year in addition to whatever elective AP I choose, so Stat won't look like a course in lieu of something harder.

i have a question about this. is college credited statistics like the same as ap stats? that's what i'm taking.
