Are the proctors really vigilant when it comes to watching what you do on your calculator? I'm asking because I stored a bunch of text files on my calculator that have all the assumptions/mechanics/ect for inference testing and confidence interval and I want to know if I can safely get away with using the notes. Should I go ahead and use it during the test if I need to (discreetly, of course)?

are you really that dumb? its not that hard and you may void the entire school’s stat exams if you get caught. theres nothing hard about ap stat that needs to be stored on a calculator…and they do check btw.

You know they give you a sheet with pretty much every formula you will need, right?

I feel like you’re allowed to store notes on your calculator but maybe I’m wrong? I know you’re allowed to for the SAT.

Do they check as in, do they go through each person’s apps and programs? Because I read online that they don’t reset your calculator, not that it matters. And I am pretty stupid, trust me. I only scored in the top 99.5% for the SAT.

As for the formula sheet, it doesn’t contain inference procedures or anything like that; all it has is the basic formula for finding the test statistic and nothing else.

who cares what you think you scored on the sat. statistics isnt that hard and the fact you dont know inference procedures is frightening considering they’re all basically the same.

Well, each inference is slightly different from the other so I just want to make sure I don’t put in a wrong condition for a test. It’s not that I don’t know the material; I just want to make sure I get everything right.

wait…what calculator are you using?

Hah last year the AP stat exam was easily my hardest one. Good luck…

Maybe I just had a crappy teacher but I found the exam EXTREMELY challenging.

TI84 silver and TINspire with an 84 keypad for backup. And raiderade, what was the procedure that the proctors used? Did they check your calculators?

Do they REALLY check your calculator for stats? I haven’t stored any formulas but I mean, the proctors at my school never checked anyone’s calculators for either the Calculus AB or BC exams both years so I wouldn’t see why they’d check your calculators for Stats. You can store many formulas for BOTH calculus and statistics so they’d either check both or none.

I see, thanks for the response!

You can, but you really shouldn’t need to. The TI-84 Silver has one of the most robust (ha! ha!) stats packages of all the TIs, and all the inference tests (idk about the term, took the test last year and got a 5) use the same 7-9 basic steps, from wording to formulas.

Besides, it sounds like that’s borderline cheating. So don’t.

It’s not borderline cheating. It’s cheating. But it’s generally your school’s fault too, as the proctors are obligated to reset the programs on y our calculator.

@Chiburger What are the 7-9 basic steps? Is that something that is also in AP Prep books?
