Last night I canceled my AP Physics 1 exam, mainly because I am not prepared for it and the kids at my school tend to do very poorly. I talked to an official at my school today and she said it was fine.
I just realized, however, that I stated on my common app that I would be taking the Physics exam. Will Villanova be really mad that I am not? Will they rescind their offer? I tried calling and the lady said I needed to get my question in “writing”. I seriously don’t know what to do.
I don’t have any actual knowledge on this, but I am responding bc I hear the anxiety in your question. I highly doubt that this would impact your admissions offer. They have admitted you on the strength of your whole record, not on a test you haven’t taken yet. Maybe check with your guidance counselor for reassurance.
@BUniversity21 I don’t have actual knowledge either, but I think you may be ok?? Usually the AP exams are used merely for getting credit for classes so you don’t have to take them in college. They don’t use AP test scores for the purposes of admission. Most colleges need a 4 or a 5 in order to grant credit for the class. So depending on how you score, you may not even send them scores at all. You could have just taken it and not reported the score. You don’t get them back until mid July anyway. My S is a freshman at Villanova now and took 9 APs in high school, he only sent the AP scores of the tests that satisfied the grade requirement for Villanova. He never sent the ones that didn’t meet the criteria. My gut is your probably fine.
Maybe she wants the question the question in writing because she may have been just been a secretary or a student intern. Sometimes they want you to write them so there is documentation for what has been said so there is no problems down the line. I suggest you talk to an actual admissions counselor at Villanova.
