AP tests

I was wondering if there are centres for AP testing. Can we take those tests after self-studying to help get a few college credits earlier, and will they accept if we took AP tests now?

I think the dates have passed.

hmm when was it last? aren’t there any other dates?

The AP tests are administered in May every year.

Cathedral & John Connon School is the AP test center for Mumbai.

oh thanks… you need to self-study for these tests and inform the colleges before you take these tests right?

You send the scores to colleges just like SAT.

Yeah but they don’t help in the admission process…

They just provide some advanced credit.

The score results are sent to you in July.

Source: I called them up in the USA… Magicjack zindabaad! :P

yeah ofcourse… i just wanted to know that if you have to inform them before you are taking the AP tests, because they require a detail of your curriculum usually, dont they?

Why do you want to take the AP’s? Are you fall 2014 or 2015?

fall 2010(class of 2014-already been admitted)…want to do APs to get some extra credits before going to college so i dont have to do the same things which i know already

Hmm that way… Check the collegeboard website out! Fast!

If you’re from Mumbai then contact Cathedral ASAP!

Oh and I meant to say Class of 2014. My bad :)

hmm im in delhi and ive heard USIEF gives AP tests but their offices will open on monday now… i heard the tests are in May, how long have I got to register?

No clue… Call USIEF on Monday I guess…

thanks will do

@aniruddhc said that taking AP tests only gets you credit and does not help with the admissions process. I would actually say that the exact OPPOSITE is true. If you are going out and studying advanced topics and doing well on AP tests (4 or 5) that shows intellectual curiosity - especially if you say that you wanted to pursue a topic beyond what was covered in your school curriculum.

With regard to credit, that depends on the school. Many schools dont give credits for AP tests, others delegate the decision to their departments, etc. Rule of thumb is, though, that the harder the school is to get in to, the less credit you will get. This is because they are more stringent about the academic rigor of a course before they hand out credit for it. For myself, I took 12 AP tests when I was in High School and Brown gave me two credits: 1 in bio and 1 in psychology.

okay i asked them today and it turned out to be the last registration day and i did it hehe …thanks  btw you should check how much credits you get for each AP course and if your score is not satisfactory you dont get any credit anyways.
