What did Henry Clay's "American System" provide for?

Question: Who was Henry Cabot Lodge and what role did he have in regards to Wilson's 14 points?

Hi,
My name is Maryanne and I am a US student doing a Junior Research Project on facial symmetry and beauty. I have an online survey that only takes a few minutes. Please take it and pass it to two friends. Thank you so much! This is a big grade for me =).

Thanks

**What was the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo? What were its provisions?[\b]

Nice try bolding =)

Try / under the question mark, user_name ;)

"What did Henry Clay's "American System" provide for?"

1) protective tariff
2) Bank of the United States
3) internal improvements

"What was the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo? What were its provisions"

The treaty that ended the Mexican War:
1) Gave land to the US (Mexican Cession) for $10M or $15M or something...
2) US assumed all Mexican war debts
- There were some more provisions which I don't remember, but I think (1) is the most important...

What was the proclaimed "turning point" of the Civil War?

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war with Mexico and gave us land such as California (yay!), and some of the surrounding areas.

Gettysburg?!?

Thanks for the support guys

What was the Treaty of Ghent?

yeaaaaaaaaaayy!!! Finally

Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812

user_name...I'm very proud of you...=)
next step..working those quote things

What is considered the "bloodiest single day in US history"?

the Battle of Antietam? September 17, 1963?

What did the proclomation of 1763 state? sorry if that's a repeat..

Also: Treaty of Ghent ended War of 1812, but all it did was return the situation to status quo ante bellum - returned things to the way they were before the war, so no real changes.

Who was Henry Cabot Lodge and what role did he have in regards to Wilson's 14 points?

He was Senate Majority Leader (?) from Republican Party, and Wilson refused to take him to Versailles for the treaty negotation, thus he got mad, Treaty of Versailles was not passed by Senate b/c especially hated the point that wanted US to be head of the League of Nations. And so, Senate never approved US participation in League of Nations, we never joined, and the League of Nations meant and did nothing b/c it had no teeth (and no US to provide intl pol. affluence or money!).

I like this. I can sit in front of the computer and still study!

Question: What was the 'Graying of America' and does this have anything to do with The Man In The Gray Flannel Suit?

P.S. Bonus Question (asking b/c looking at things that were on last year's test - just topics, teacher gave them to us): What was "venerate the plow" and what does it mean?

Edit: Noticed Clay question answered.

What did the proclomation of 1763 state?
The settlers could not cross a certain line (like right on the Appalac..ok not even going to attempt Mountains)
on that same thought...

Who were the Paxton boys?

Question: What was the 'Graying of America' and this have anything to do with The Man In The Gray Flannel Suit?

Didn't that book have to do with conformity or something? I remember this was a question from my Kaplan book =)

Was Antietam right acacia?

The Paxton boys were a group of Pennsylvanians from Paxton (the town) that killed a peaceful group of indians, and later marched on Philadelphia. It was important because it showed the growing tensions between Indians and whites, and it also highlighted the urban vs rural differences.

Proclamation of 1763--
British told Americans not to go over Appalachians because they could not protect them.

Sorry, guys, mine was kind of hard... it's only in my head because I just was reviewing Civil War stuff last night. :p

User_name got it partially right. The "turning point" is considered to be the victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg, because the Confederates never "regained the offensive," as AMSCO puts it, after that.

several civil rights related questions

Who coined the term black power?

Who founded the black panthers (2 men)?

How were W.E.B. Debois and Booker T. Washington different?

What time period was the Paxton Boys? Late 1800s?
