AP US History--Let's review together

For those of us taking AP US on Friday, how about we quiz each other on here (since I procrastinate too much to get anything done on my own)

So for the next person to post: What was the Missouri Compromise and its significance

A compromise organized by Henry Clay in 1820. It marked a big step in the direction of sectionalism that would eventually lead to the outbreak of civil war. Under the Northwest ordinance Missouri was to be admitted as a state into the Union. Missouri wanted to be a slave state, but the tallmadge ammendant was proposed, which states that slaves could not be brought into the state and second generation slaves would be released at age 25. Of course the slave owneres nation wide opposed this idea and after a year and to failures to pass in the senate the tallmadge ammendant was shot down and a compromise was made. the compromise entailed that missouri would be admitted as a slave state and maine admitted as a free state to keep the slave and non slave senate seats balanced. It also prohibited slavery over the 36 30 line

this thread is a gooood idea!

would someone please summarize…
-the War of 1812?

Causes-
British Impressment of Sailors
Non-intercourse act which stated that the U.S. would cut off economic ties with France or Britain until either nation agreed to trade peacefully with the U.S and the U.S. would cut off ties with their opponent. Napolean took the bait and thus the US cut off ties with Britain. President Madison eventually declared war in 1812
British allegedly aided Tecumseh and the Prophet to lead a rebellion and form an indian conferderacy in the west. They war thwarted at the battle of tippecanoe led by future president william henry harrison
Events- DC was burned Madison fled the city his wife dolly saved portrait of GW
War ended with treaty of Ghent which ended the war and entailed that life would go back to normal before the war. Therefore none of the grievances the US entered the war for were adressed I.E. fur trading posts, border disputes and most importantly the impressment of american sailors
Two weeks after the treaty of Ghent had been signed America fought an unwarranted battle of New Orleans led by Andrew Jackson. Jackson won handsomely and became an American hero/icon that would bring him into the spotlight so much so that he would become a viable canidate for the presidency
Nationalism greatly increased after the war because America proved that it could compete in regards to the military with other world powers. Francis Scott Key’s “Defense of Fort McHenry” became a patriotic tune that was eventually named the Star Spangled Banner and our national anthem.

Jacksonian Democracy (we’ve went of this a million times, i know) and Causes and Effects of WWI and WWII?
