Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone can clarify to me about the MC portion and SAQ of the exam. My teacher says that I will have to do the multiple choice and short answer together in one section’s given time. I thought the two were separate and I checked the college board website but it didn’t hint that the two would be taken together, it does give out given times like 55 minutes for MC and 50 minutes for SAQ. Thanks! (⊙_⊙)
wait, we have to write a synthesis???
@HappinessXOX Section 1 is composed of 55 MC in 55 minutes and 4 SAQs in 50 minutes. Section 2 is composed of 1 DBQ and 1 LAQ (essay).
@HappinessXOX Yes, the MC and short answer are done together in section 1, and the DBQ and long essay are done in Section 2. They have a recommended time for the MC and the SAQ, but time management is up to you.
Why are there so many Johns in history?!?!?!?!?!
I’m pulling an allnighter tonight to attempt to study really hard for this so I can rest well Thursday night… I have a 98.2 in the class (and it’s very challenging, nothing easy) and I feel like I have prepared lots, yet I also felt I prepared lots for the AP World exam last year, and I only got a 3. I feel like I am better prepared this year, though, and I’ve been taking Shmoop practice questions and plan to take the official practice exam they released, and have been looking my notes over and the rubrics front and back, and watched some of the longer Adam Norris and JoczProductions videos. However sometimes I freak out because I don’t remember what the Wilmot Proviso is (I do now), though, but little things like that. I’m just frightened I’ll get a short answer, long essay, or DBQ on something I blanked out on.
Thanks for the clarification! Oh I hope I make a 3 but I’d really like a 4 since most of the colleges I want to go to require a 4 or 5. If I don’t pass this APUSH Exam I’m gonna throw a fit and cry “I failed you America.” (Jk I won’t cry but I’ll still feel terrible nonetheless) My teacher has been cramming with us these last few days and she’s trying but it’s her first time teaching high school students. I pray that we all make it. ( ´_ゝ`)
Do you guys kno about what we need to get a 5 on the new exam?
Is it alright to study using the 2015 Princeton Review APUSH book? Is it based off of the new exam?
@splashzone10 yes on both the DBQ and leq
Is it a must to define acts like Port Act, Townshend Acts if I were to put them for the essay?
Current attitude towards the exam tomorrow:
I wish I had posted on here a few weeks earlier to help you guys out, but I’ve only just started participating in college confidential. For some last minute review, watch Adam Norris on YouTube. He helped me on last year’s exam!
@Deuce781 I think it’s fine. Like my history teacher said, history is history. But a 2016 book would still be a better option
@uncletim32 I’m not sure if it’s required, but I personally think it would earn you more points since you’re showing a thorough understanding of the topic
By the way, make sure you all know how to do a DBQ! On last year’s exam I barely knew what the topic was about but I still managed a well essay by using and interpreting the documents. You barely need any background information.
How would ur thesis look like if the prompt was- In what ways did the French and Indian War alter the economic, political relations between the Britain and US?
Like do I say
French and Indian War greatly altered the economic and political relations between Britain and US.(would this be just repeating? My teacher tells me to answer all parts of the prompt and dont just repeat.)
Debating whether or not to take another practice test tonight or just sleep… Any opinions?
@ReadWriteMath, @Heba165 Help
Hey what are some helpful videos I could watch? And @ReadWriteMath I suggest taking a practice test and maybe take the part that you consider to be the hardest?
@uncletim32 Your thesis statement should definitely be more complex to receive the 2 points for the DBQ. I have this form memorized:
Although __, x because _, _, and .
@Sandy12345 Thanks. As for videos, I recommend Crash Course US History (Everything is easier to learn when John Green is saying it!)
@uncletim32 You should have a complex thesis - it shouldn’t be a simple sentence. Maybe for that prompt something like “The French and Indian War had a significant effect on the economic and political relations between Britain and the American colonies (no US yet!), with the colonists becoming increasingly agitated with Britain’s economic policies after the war.”
