^^Someone said they don't count against or for it, I hadn't ever heard of anything before.

oh... i heard that they grade everything in the booklet unless its crossed out... and if there is a drawing.... i dont know how that'll affect ur grade.

on one of my aps i wrote (sorry for this runon btw) and it wasnt a language exam anyway, just bio.. they wont really take off points right?

^well dont they just give points?? i think they give points for anything that complies with their rubrik...i dont think that they take away points...anything that is nonsense and stuff that doesnt have to do with the essay they dont grade..well so iv been told

thats exactly what i thought!

Okay, I really hope I don't get points off for drawing a stupid map because i was frustrated.

hmmm...the curve just seems too generous. I really want to believe it, but I think its a trap.

It's the curve from 2007 I think.

Believe it, and be happy!

*Multiple Choice

(# correct - .25 * # incorrect) * .869

Essays

DBQ: # out of 9 * 2.2222
Compare/Contrast: # out of 9 * 2.2222
Change over Time: # out of 9 * 2.2222*

My official guess for myself.

60/70 = 49.9
9/9 on DBQ = 19.8
6/9 on COT = 13.2
7/9 on CC = 15.4

Total: 98.3 = 5

=D I had a good teacher this year though + I love history.

Does the curve change each year? If so, by how much?

Also you guys need to keep in mind that they will only allow a certain percentage of students to have earn the five, four, three, etc. If the test was extremely easy, then the scale will most likely be far different than last years...

I hope plenty of people bombed it, because it was extremely easy for me.
:)

ok the majority (50%+) probably didnt really study for this test and will get lower than 3 or barely 3 on this test and so it doesnt matter

majority of the people who visit this site are the 4 & 5 (20%) minority so just because CC people say its easy for them doesnt mean it is for the majority

^^^^
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing too. I just hope that this year's test is not that much easier than last year's (does anyone know?) because I don't want the curve to go crazy on us and be completely different from last year's curve.

I know someone who took the 2007 multiple choice questions and said it was about the same.

Everyone says it's easy every year, according to my teacher.

There were a lot of really obscure questions though.

From taking the multiple choice released exam for 2007 and looking over the essays and taking the 2008 exam, I thought the 2007 multiple choice was easier and the essays were a harder than this years test. I think they usually try to even out the portions of the test. Easy multiple choice, hard essays, vice-versa, or medium level of both.

I myself got a 5 and all I can say is don’t stress too much about those essays. The way it worked out for me was that I did amazingly on the MC and just averagely on the essays I suspect. This is how the test went for me

MC: answered 69/70, very few guesses, lot of extra time left over duting this section
DBQ: 2nd essay I wrote, 40mins, really rushed. I mentioned all the documents but did not have a chance to really analyze them thoroughly.
CCOT: 1st essay I wrote, 1hr., not too rushed, probably my best essay.
Comp/Cont: 3rd essay I wrote, 20mins, very rushed, my worst, it wasn’t pure B.S. but I was rushing so fast that I’m not sure if I connected my facts together so that they made sense and supported my thesis correctly.

My point is that you don’t have to necessarily write amazing essays to get a 5. My essays probably average out into being a 5/9 on the essay section. But, I did so good on MC that it neutralized it and I got a 5 :D

The test for 2009 was easier than I thought it would be. Or, the curve was more lenient than I thought it would be. Either way, good luck to future AP World’ers. It’s a “fun” class :)

I think the curve was really easy this year because the essays were so random/tough

I got myself a 5. Glad to have those FR’s questions since they were easy to do.

Hi guys,

I just did a practice MC section and I scored a 39/70 (after reduction). What scores would I need to get on the essays to get a 5?

Thanks
