I was rejected by UC Berkeley and I am considering appealing. However, I don’t have any “significant and compelling new” information, such as improved SAT scores, mis-reported grades, or extenuating family circumstances. The only information that I omitted from my original application were some Extra-curriculurs and awards/honors that I couldn’t include because I already had 5 in each. Is it still worth appealing? And if so, what is the process of doing so. Do I just write a letter, should I include letters of rec from my teachers? Do I appeal online or physically by mail? Any information would be helpful and appreciated.
Can’t answer the first part of your question, but you submit your appeal online through the decision portal; there’s a text box where you can paste your letter of appeal and a link you can send to a recommender if you wish. I would keep in mind that they “highly discourage” letters of appeal without significant new information. I’m appealing as well, here’s to hoping we’re both successful.
I asked one of my teacher to submit the letter of rec through the site Cal provided. Why there is still no check mark in for the letter of rec? My teacher said she had submitted the letter.
After reading this, I’m kind of confused. I was waitlisted by Cal; can I be accepted without an amazing reason for appeal/not writing an appeal? If so, how common is it? Because like @sachte, I don’t have great reasons.
