Hi, I just attended my graduation ceremony and I figured I was well on my way to getting my Business Econ degree. However, I totally bungled the final of the one class I needed to pass to graduate (an upper division Econ course), and I ended up getting a final score of C-, just 1 point below a passing grade of C. I feel ashamed and heartbroken that I stumbled at the final step. But I just do not want to come back to UCI just to take this one final class again just because of 1 point. Is there any way I can go about appealing this grade and somehow allowing me to pass this class?

Oh and this class was a requirement as a Management Elective for the Bus Econ major.

You can always ask for a regrade, but if the final was a Scantron it would probably come out the same way. The other possibility is to make an appointment to see the prof. explain the circumstances nicely and ask politely for advice about what to do. Be sure to tell the prof if you (or your family) would be facing a financial hardship such as having a job lined up that you’d lose.
