I just got my need-based aid award from Northeaster and its honestly pretty good but my FAFSA EFC was really low and Northeastern is asking a decent bit more than that. My parents have said that they can pull it off if the have to, but it would be better if I could get more money. How do you go around appealing their aid? What are my chances of getting more since I already have the best financial aid package out of anyone I know that got in? Also, should I hold off on sending my enrollment deposit until I am done with the appeals? I got in back in February and have been waiting on my aid letter, so now I really just want to enroll and have it all done but my mom insists I should wait.
I would contact your FA officer and go through your FAFSA, etc. I had contacted our FA officer about an error I made in my D’s CSS and then he found one I made on her FAFSA – and it worked out. Each school calculates need differently – did you do their Net Price Calculator? If your offer is varied a lot from that, then I would definitely talk to them. It can’t hurt.
