Appealing for Financial Aid?

First off, my EFC is slightly over 75k.
My family has essentially fallen into that middle class range where we make what seems like a lot of money, but don't have that much in reality.
Expenses include: family in home country (several members of which are unemployed), one retired grandmother, one grandfather in a nursing home (on a ventilator), mortgage on home, and a family of four. Another factor driving up the EFC would be the second house which belongs to my grandparents, but was switched over to my father's name so that grandparents could receive some kind of gov't benefits (I don't really know the details).
Mom is earning 110k+ as accountant, and dad's a 3rd year teacher at a small public school.
My 2 schools cost 37kish and 45kish (GTech, CMU), essentially in loans. Anyone know if I can do anything about this? Does anyone have any experience getting additional money from either of those schools? (P.S. I've had enough reality checks. This is just a last ditch effort to search for other options before I give up and take that SUNY scholarship)

When it was “switched over” to your dad, did the deed contain a provision for life use of the property by your grandparents? If so, it may not actually be your dad’s asset for FAFSA while they are still living. This is more of an estate planning tool as he would not be able to sell the house until after they pass on. I would get clarification on this and review your FAFSA for any other errors. Unless your folks have alot of other savings, your EFC seems pretty high for that income level.
