Applicant credibility

If I know a student who has been getting admissions in to schools based on lies, would it be right to notify the colleges?
I think it's highly unethical and hurts others' chances from the same school getting into the same colleges. It's absolutely unfair for the kids who have worked so hard and balanced lot more things in complete sincerity!

hmm, did you discuss his lies with your GC? I’d probably got there first and discuss. The GC could make the call.

It really depends on the nature of the lies - and the GC is a good place to start. For example, if you know someone who has fake SAT/ACT scores, that’s a biggy I would have no problem with someone reporting it to any level, from the College Board on down. Someone constantly cheating in class, that’s a little different, you needed to be reporting that as you saw it. Fake ECs, that’s GC level. Hacking the school computer to change grades, that’s a big one as well that could go to any level, including law enforcement.

Without further info, it’s difficult to say what you should do, but at some level, if you’re aware of it, you should report it.
