Would it be too detrimental for my application if I didn’t fill out the optional research supplement? I come from an international rural school so I haven’t had the opportunity to go to a university or anything where I can do research. I feel quite inferior compared to other CCers here T_T

Of course not. Given your circumstances, it makes perfect sense why you shouldn’t have, and I don’t know if the optional research supplement is that important if you have the grades, the essays (as in common app and supplement) and the extracurriculars to back up your application. It also depends on what you’re interested in. For instance, I’m interested in English, and therefore there’s no reason for me to have done any research.
