ah google ENid Blyton Secret seven… Although I guess you migt find articles about it being rascist and sexist but really its just a product of its time and you dont notice that stuff when your 7… Gah, my sister is bein mega annoying…

Here i found a summary
The Secret Seven are a children’s secret society who hold regular meetings and try to solve mysteries that have bamboozled the police. The Seven have a secret password, a badge, and a secret headquarters in a garden shed. The Seven are led by Peter and include Peter’s sister Janet, and their friends Jack, Colin, George, Pam and Barbara. They are joined by their golden spaniel, Scamper. They come together in their first adventure, The Secret Seven

They are english books published in the '40s that were still quite popular where I went to primary school.

ohhh…that could be us!
well exceot that there’s two of us!
and we are not kids… m)

haha yeah we don’t wanna be kept permanentally at 12 like poor peter… However, I do know in The Five Find-Outers All the kids (the majority of which are 11/ 12 but one is 13 and another 9ish, its been about 4 or 5 years since I last reread these books.) are all at BS during term time as was the custom :stuck_out_tongue: A lot of EB other books that I was never as fond of like ‘Mallory Towers’ was actually set at BS… Wow, I some how managed to steer this thread into Enid Blyton… OMG my sister is being so annoying, so if i suddenly dissapear you’ll know why.

hey everyone! I’m back! I always miss the excitement :(

Haha, I want a sister, I have a little brother who’s off somewhere with his christmas presents, lol

lol, being an american I guess you’ve never hear of EB either? and trust me having a sister isn’t that bril.

I just realised while Im on a EB advertising tangeant, I forgot to mention The Wishing Chair and The faraway tree  and yes Im sure I confused evryone again :)

i want a sister to…

haha i know Mallory Towers!!! my dad goes to britain all the time and he brought them back from london

thanks for the birthday wish, 8th grade was pretty boring, and yes i do celebrate christmas  i got toe socks, a book i don’t understand yet, a gift card to ross and a wii  :D

No, I’m not familiar with these books, would you recommend them? And it’s your bday Hoping? Well happy bday to you then. I actually know a lot of people with the same bday as you.

the 2nd of jan is my birthday

and thanks :)

reccomend them? hmmmmm. I loved those books as a young child but they are not meant for teenagers. I can still read them but I mainly do so because they make me feel nostalgic. They are what started my passion for reading. They are great book but they are A) for little kids B) Strongly dated and C) Very English… Having said that they are brilliant books and if you can find a copy (they aren’t at my local B&N) then give them ago.

ahh, they’re like those Nicolas stories, then. they’re super french and very kiddish, but fun to read and reminisce over.

ASDFJKL; I never read for fun anymore. Treasure these moments, guys, because secondary school eats your life up.

hoping: happy future bday then!

raven: hmmmmmm sounds nice. I just always read because I would finish assignments before everyone else and be told to read. But our books were kind of boring, Frog and Toad in 1st grade and Junie B Jones and sorts like that. I taught myself how to read in preschool because I was bored while waiting for a friend to come over, lol. Are the books in British-English? I’ve been wanting to read something in British-English, jest to see the difference.

tuesdays: I hope I can get into a good private school then, so I am not stuck with vats of spare time, although I do enjoy reading.

Blasphemy, Paula! D: How is Junie B. boring?! Haha, I jest, I jest. I just kind of have the whole series on my shelf.

HAPPY EARLY BIRFDAY, HOPE!

thanks!!! i’ll finally be as old as everyone else in my grade even if i’m more than half a year younger

does anyone elso find it amusing that we give each other nicknames, i bet if someone called hope on the street id answer, lol

We dont have middle school at home, so I already entered first year of high school at a v. competitive local day school before we moved… I didn’t change anything. Did everything at 3am and was a A- student overall, could have done better for sure but it didn’t impact on my reading time :)
