Application Question!

On the ucf application is asking me my senior year schedule and how much credit that particular class is worth...its either 0.5 credit or 1.00 credit...how do i know how much credit each class is worth? like for instance, im taking English 4 honors..will that be considered 1.0 credit or 0.5 credit? someone please explain this to me :P thank you!!

If its a full year class like English, it would be worth 1 credit.

but english is not a full year class tho…at least not in my school…unless its AP…like english for me is only up to january…like it started on august and the course ends in january…

Then that’s a semeste r; so 0.5. Semester classes are 0.5 like “half the year” and 1.0 are year long classes like " the whole year."

andreina42, are you on block scheduling in your high school?

A few classes can count as more than 0.5 credits per semester. This year I have AP Chem and AP Physics, both with after school labs. I’m getting .75 credits per semester for each of those because of the lab requirement.

yeah im in block scheduling…i only have 4 classes a semester…this semester started on august till january…i have english 4 honors…american govt/ econ honors…algebra 2 (i suck at math) and cont lit honors…these classes end on january…and then i get new classes from january till the end of the school year…what i wanna know is…how much are this classes worth?

I graduated High School in '04 and trying to remember. I am certain that an “A” in Honors is worth 4.5, “B” is worth 3.5, “C” is worth 2.5, “D” is worth 1.5. I am certain that an “A” in AP is worth 5.0, “B” is worth 4.0, “C” is worth 3.0, “D” is worth 2.0. Now, that is used in the GPA Calculation. Now, on your application, I am 99% certain that the Honors is worth the same amount of Credits as a regular course, only that it’s worth more on your GPA. AP enables you to receive Credit in the College Course providing that you pass the AP Exam (I think with a 3 or 4, though some classes might be higher). I’m sorry I can’t answer your question completely, but will do my best to find the answer for you from an advisor on campus.

^^ Probably 0.5 per class per semester. You can double check this by asking for an unofficial copy of your transcript from your school office. That should show you how many credits are assigned by your school per class per semester.

andreina42, for block schedule, those classes would be: English 1.0, American Govt 0.5, Economics 0.5, Algebra 2 1.0, Cont Lit 1.0. Hope this helps.
