Should I contact them about this, or can I just wait until March to see if I'm accepted or not?</p>

<p>I heard some of my friends in high school got IDs so far, some have not yet received the letter.</p>
<p>Remember that the due date was Dec 15… and I’m sure a TON of people applied at the same time. Give the admissions office time to send you guys mail with the account set up details!</p>

<p>Don’t worry, your application is probably not yet under review. If I remember correctly, you should see an ID when your application says that they will not update the status any further and will contact you by mail about your decision. Something like that…</p>

<p>I believe when you apply, you should have made a UW NET ID, which you can use to access your application status. A UW ID is different, that’s your student ID. If a UW ID shows up on your unofficial transcript then that’s an indication that you were accepted. At least that’s the trick we used when I applied 2 years ago.</p>

<p>You will only be given an official UW student ID after admittance. The OP was probably talking about some identification number for his/her application. STUDENTS ARE ONLY GIVEN AN OFFICIAL UW NET ID consisting of 7 digits AFTER ADMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY.</p>
<p>Oh, and you can’t “make” your own IDs. IDs are specific numbers assigned to UW students.</p>

<p>pumpkins- not true. I got in winter of 2011. I received a letter a few weeks after I applied telling me how to set up my uw net id to check the status of my application. Everyone gets one, whether they get in or not. That’s how they track the status.</p>

<p>the ‘net ID’ is a username… this is what your UW EMAIL (<username>@uw.edu or <username>@u.washington.edu) will be if you are accepted and then enroll at UW. </username></username></p>
<p>The Student ID NUMBER is something you will not get until you are accepted. I think this is what pumpkins is referring to.</p>
<p>Right now, you are setting up a NET ID. Everyone gets this message to set up your NET ID at some point during the application process. This does NOT mean you are 100% going to be admitted.</p>
