Application

Thanks for the help, all! The Common Application is coming out soon, and I hope I can live up to your helpful praise.

@rainy: Yes, I used to be good friends with Mr. Chu. I think we took the same summer math course in 5th grade and were ARML teammates many years later. I still have school here in Taiwan, and if that's the case in America, give him my greetings!

Considering the rest of your record, and the reason why you won't be vale, I think you'll be fine.

he got into black mop last year(alternate team for US IMO team?)!!!
but then after a week they kicked him down to blue MOP

thanks soo cool, he is too smart...

i feel stupid.... more competition for me for MIT. I'm see my chances diminishing by the second T_T

I really love music. I played piano for 13 years and have played the tuba, clarinet, trumpet, and viola (8 years). However, I don't have any national awards in music. So here's my question:

Is it better to write about an activity you have a lot of passion for but have only minor awards in , or about something that you like and have major awards in?

By the way, this accounts for the fact that I left out a lot of my passions in my resume above.

2007 the IMO will be in Vietnam...

Hey, I used to go on AOPS, but not frequently anymore.

I don't think not getting valedictorian will hurt your chances.

You probably have a 99% everywhere, but Harvard did reject a US IPhO team member.

So, are we nationals competing with your or not? Hope not!

Congrats on everything.

Are you just trying to show off?

kishpish, I'm sorry if this thread comes off to you as a show-off gesture. I'm actually a somewhat nervous and apprehensive guy. I've been worrying about college admissions since junior year, and here I am, still worrying.

Thanks jenkster! I'm glad there's a math community embedded in CC.

By the way, did anyone take a look at the IMO problems?

I have no idea what to say at the moment.

I was speechless at first as well.....

christ, ur amazing o_o

You are the closest thing this board has to a sacrilegist, pal. ;)

I would love a follow up as to where you are accepted. Thanks.

Wow, you're really cool! I just have one question for you--how did you find the TIME to do all of this?
(By the way, have you taken differential equations yet?)
Just wondering; I've taken the AIME and AMC and stuff, but never made it to USAMO yet. ;)

Son of a ***** is crazy.

-College Courses: Linear Algebra, Advanced Calculus, Number Theory, Graph Theory, Modern Algebra (will be taking this senior year: 1st year grad course)

Lily Puppy it would be kind of hard to take 1st year grad math courses without differential equations...

You cannot be human. I refuse to believe it.

Oh My God!!
I don't know what to say.....
I can't believe someone like me from Taiwan can be that good!
I am pround of you!! you are awesome!! =]

WOW.
You're a math/science focus with national debate awards?
dies

If you've volunteered at all or had any work experience put that down, even a little helps. Research counts as work most of the time.
