I called the Admissions Office last week to ask how many applications Wake has received this year. I was told 7500. That's a 20 percent increase over the 6200 they received last year. I assume, but I'm not sure, that because of this higher number of applications (read interest) that Wake will accept fewer students to get the yield they need to fill their freshman class. I suppose this is good news if you get in, and bad news if you don't.

wow that is frieghtening

that will probably bring wake forest up in the rankings. (not that those things matter)

GoUSA, did admissions say when they are mailing out decisions? Other colleges are mailing earlier than the date they put on their websites, I wonder about Wake?

Terrifying.

It's because of college basketball.
I applied there because of athletics, quite honestly.

not likely, it may help but more kids are just applying to more schools in general considering harvard is gonna have like a 6% acceptance rate this year people need to apply to more schools

Ecliptica makes a very very valid point.

Trust me, if Gonzaga wins the NCAA championship this year, I promise you that they receive about 20% more applications next year.
This happens almost every year, athletics reflect admissions.

not exactly, UCONN did not recieve that many more applicants this year than they did last...actually I have heard that they have received less applicants, but there name has been out there for a long time...it might help a school like wake become better known out west or in the northeast

Have you seen the dorms at UCONN? Ish. They need to revamp "the jungle" before they will increase applicants. We were there for FPS International the year before last. The area is nice, but those freshman dorms were hideous.

Unfortunately, Gonzaga will not be receiving that projected 20% boost:( loss for my bracket...

Well I guess it's good news for Bucknell then. :)

Haha. Kansas...my first and currently my only elite 8 casualty...dissapointing.

AH HOW COULD THEY LOSE TO UWV, extremely homosexual

:( We just watched that double OT (with out power cutting in and out due to a storm)

OU is out, too. And BC. This must be the year of the upset!

OU wasn't really an upset, Utah has (one of) the best player(s) in college basketball in Bogut. I wouldn't be suprised at all if they made it to the championship game.
I was looking damn good in the espn.com and my real life pool, but I had Wake Forest winning it all.
I did predict the UWM over Alabama and BC, and I got Vermont over Syracuse. . .I thought I was in good shape. Now I have absolutely no chance to win.

FORTUNATELY I didn't have Wake Forest winning it all...I went real cliche with Illinois but now I'm stuck between them and Carolina, as much as I despise UNC. My bracket has been plagued by upsets since I didn't really take any risks.

My Austin Regional is still perfect, and I only have one loss in my Chicago regional. However, none of this matters since the championship is really all that counts.
If UConn and Oklahoma State lose today, I'll actually be in pretty good shape despite having Wake Forest lose. Seven of my elite eight teams are still left (UNC / Wisconsin / Duke / Kentucky / Illinois / OK State / Georgia Tech) and if I can have some big upsets happen (Georgia Tech over Louisville / Vermont over Michigan State) I could be in better shape than I thought.

looks like you got screwed lol
