What school do you want to apply to within CMU?

i dont want to sound dumb... but what is CMU/what does CMU stand for??

my major will eventually be biology if thats what you're asking...

CMU = Carnegie Mellon ?

hahahaha how thats what i thought too
how does Carnegie Mellon apply to this thread? LOL

Oh shoot, my bad. I thought I was in the CMU forum. I had opened up a chance thread in both Caltech and CMU and mixed them up. Duh.

lol its fine dont worry about it

would anyone care to chance me now?? haha :)

Looks pretty good. You should definitely apply if you think you would enjoy the Caltech experience. Make sure your passion for science/math/engineering comes out in your essays.

ya i already applied Early Action, im just hoping for the best but dont know if i should expect too much. I'm hoping i can get a rough idea from this chance thread. Thanks for the time!

You are an impressive applicant... your chances are probably as good as anybody's, so good luck!

Your information looks very similar to my son's, except he was a NM Finalist and had a slightly higher CR score. You have more research experience, which he had nothing of any significance, and he had more extracurricular activities. He did not apply early, but was admitted regular decision. I'm not sure how picky they are on early action, but i would guess that if you did a good job on the essays, you would have a good shot at regular action, based upon my son's experience.

I would guess a solid Reg. Dec. Applicant.
Weak EA Applicant. Will probably be deferred. But a good shot of getting in the regular pool.

But a lot will probably depend on your recs. Especially what you did for your research.

But that's just my guess.

im not too far into the research yet, as the dr. is just teaching me basics and we are doing basic things as of now. In the future, it will pick up though.
thanks for all the input everyone!

i really hope i can make it EA because i wanted to be considered for the UC San Diego and Caltech Medical Scholars program

geeeez im getting nervous!

quick ?: does the comparitively low CR score hurt me? a lot?

im just not good at the sentence completions.... :(

Chances are pretty much a waste of time, no reason to get nervous.

updated SAT if that does much:

CR-710
M-800
W-800 (12 e, 78 mc)
total: 2310
