Applied Math Major or a Statistics Major?

Hello.

I'm a college student at the University of Michigan. I am currently taking courses that would put me on track for an Applied Math major with a sub-concentration in Mathematical Biology (Biomathematics). All the while, I'm also set to have a Biochemistry major.

I've recently thought about applying to medical school and I'll go forward with it, but there's a large possibility that med school doesn't go my way. (Only about 42% of applicants to an Allopathic Medical School in the US are accepted, if I'm recalling that fact correctly.)

As a back-up plan, would you recommend an Applied Math major or a Statistics major for job or grad school opportunities? Should I tack on a Statistics minor to the Applied Math major? The Statistics major will already have a Math minor with it, because I've taken several math courses.

The Statistics major would be an Honors Statistics concentration, btw, requiring me to write an Honors Thesis which might be good for job/grad school prospects?

I'd also like to now if either of these options would be better for med schools, if they care about this.

Currently, I have between a 3.95 and a 4.00 GPA if that helps.

It will be a little easier for me to do the Math major because of it having fewer requirements left, but if Stats majors are better at locking in jobs or have better after-BS options, I'll easily graduate in 4 years.

Also, I'm interested in both subject material.

Please guys, I need to know soon! :)

Thanks.
