Apply to college week

I know that many states sponsor a free College Application Month as a part of the American College Application Campaign where students can get help with the application process in order to increase the number of students applying to college. I have seen codes and selected “free” application dates for schools in different states. Are these events state specific? Could a student apply to an out of state public college for free during these events or is it restricted to in-state applicants only?

The ones I have heard of have been state schools restricting the benefit to in-state applicants. Still… a very helpful boost to residents. I haven’t heard of any “public ivy” schools giving anything away so far, but I’m not following too many of them closely.

If application fees are a problem you can ask your guidance counselor about fee waivers. Some colleges provide “coupon codes” with their marketing materials, so look for those as well.
