<p>Most applications are available during the July time period. You can apply as early as you wish and for ED you will have to sign a contract for it to be accepted. Otherwise you will placed into the RD pool.</p>
<p>It makes absolutely no difference unless you are applying to a school that has rolling admissions. If you are applying to UMichigan rolling, for example, the earlier the better because they accept rolling on a first come, first served basis so it’s a lot easier to get in that way. For RD, schools don’t look at the applications until after the deadline anyway so it doesn’t matter.</p>
<p>Actually, some large state colleges will look at applications even before the RD deadline. U Florida is a college that does this, but their application deadline is really early (November 1). I know some people who applied in August to get first dibs on housing, and adcoms said that they looked at earliest applications first.</p>
