applying for an on campus job

Can someone who has done it before walk me through the process of applying for an on campus job for an incoming freshman with work study in my financial aid package? The myColby portal encourages applying for up to 6 jobs. If work study is a part of my financial aid, will Colby find the best match for me or do I just keep applying until I hear from someone? Should I apply for 6 different jobs all at once? Am I guaranteed a job as a work study recipient?
Thank you!

As far as I know, apply for all six jobs. They’ll try to match you with a job that you’re interested in. If you have work study in your award package, you should assume you’ll get a job as long as you look for one. Keep in mind work hours when you apply. Some jobs are more office jobs, where there’s boundaries to your available shifts (think 9-5); some jobs will allow you to work as late as the 11pm - 1am shift (library). With your courses/sports/extracurriculars you want to make sure you can fit the number of hours you want for a week.

Thank you!
