Applying for Financial Aid after being admitted

I was recently admitted to Duke, Berkeley and Williams but I didn't apply for financial aid. My family’s financial situation has undergone some changes in the past three months and I'm not sure if we would be able to pay for all 4 years of post-secondary education without aid. Would it be possible to apply for financial aid once I am enrolled as an undergraduate at any of these three schools?

You can file a FAFSA for loans at any time during the academic year. Schools can set their own rules for their own aid, so ask them before you accept.

Agreed. You need to contact the schools. If you are OOS for Berkeley, you probably will not get much, if any, help.

Contact Duke and Williams ASAP. They will tell you what can be done.

It depends entirely upon the school as to whether there is aid for any student who did not meet deadlines. All three schools you mention are need blind for admissions, but only Duke and Williams guarantee to meet full need. Berkeley does not for OOS. Both Duke and Williams will require a CSS PROFILE completed as well as the FAFSA.

Yes…and the FAFSA and Profile forms for the 2014-2015 school year use data from 2013 tax year. You need to specifically ask what happens NOW as your situation has changed. From what it was in 2013.

Specifically, you need to inquire about need based aid in subsequent years. And you need to find out if the school will make an adjustment based on your current circumstances for this school year, if needed (after filing the appropriate forms for need consideration.
