Applying for German undergrad at 30yrs old, theres more. Help please?

So, I’ll give you the short of it. I want to study philosophy abroad in Germany. I’m an American citizen whose graduation date is 2007. It was at this point through circumstances a GED is what I ended up with. Years down the road I’m teaching myself philosophy via the local library and began to “fall in love with it” I wanted to experience what it is to study this subject in Germany. So, I started researching German colleges and requirements, etc. When I found out college for them is like a basic human right and everyone gets in “apparently free now” this really got me going!

Except one thing. I haven’t been to school in 12yrs. Even still, all I have is a GED to prove it. They’re gonna be looking for something tangible. They have to, it can’t be THAT easy. What do I need to do?

Timeline-doesn’t matter
Study-Philosophy(since its not engineering I have a better chance right?)
Level-Undergrad
Funds-not a factor

Please help me out here it’s quite a dream of mine to say the least. Thanx.

Im researching I promise. It’s just my situation has too many variables that google can’t pinpoint. And if it does its in german! I need just a little bit of rope.
