If you are interested in the program you should apply. Your high school SAT should not factor in to your decision at all.

The website states that of the Mid-Year applicants 5-10 are interviewed, and 4-6 are invited. In selection criteria they state:
I would try to request your LOR from someone who can write a more personal recommendation. I realize this is hard first semester with some larger classes, but do your best. Also, keep the above criteria in mind when answering the short essay questions.

Apply. The payoffs are worth it and you’ll never know if you would have made it or not unless you apply

To a young engineer from an old engineer: in the engineering world, and especially the professional world, you’re going to have failures. Don’t be scared of taking risks intellectually, socially, or professionally. You’ll fail, a lot, it just comes with the profession and is incredibly hard at first. But the successes are usually worth it when they come along over time you learn it’s worth it in the end

It’s also important to understand that the Rodman program is not simply an “academic” honors program - meaning its purpose is much deeper than recognizing academic performance. Your essays need to reflect that you are a fit for the Rodman program philosopy, and demonstrate what you will bring to the program. Do some homework on Professor Elzey and how the Rodman program tries to put into practice the ideal of the Jeffersonian Engineer. It’s not just about academics - but about your involvement and participation in the world around you as well.
