Does anyone else feel like they have no chance at getting into a boarding school when they read some of the posts on here? Some people have incredible SSAT scores and tons of ECs.

what does your resume look like?

lol…like who?

i feel you man, i’m just your average kid

YES ALL THE TIME…I know that for SSAT scores mine were probably one of the ones you were talking about but for ECs, community service, and awards I have virtually nothing out of the ordinary. No major awards, no steady community service. ughhhhhhh. How do some people have all those amazing activities? how do they even get the opportunity to do half of them?
My major question: how do they have the time?
It’s not enough just to be smart anymore…you need to be good at literally everything. it is kind of discouraging to go on here sometimes.

I can’t speak for an admissions committee, but try not to be completely stunned by some of the resumes you see. The only remarkable thing I had going for me was my SSAT score. Other than that, I was just a normal kid who played a few sports, was only good at one of them, and was a halfway-decent trumpet player. And now I am about to graduate from prep school. Don’t worry about it too much and just focus on the interview and the application itself. I think, personally, that the interview is the most underrated part of the entire process.

personally my essay writing skills are not very good and i never really learned how to write at the school im at, so writing a solid essay for an application that was truly my essay was very challenging.
