FA is, as far as I know, a 4-year commitment (or however long you are slated to attend) by the school to help students without the financial resources to attend. Obviously I don’t know for sure, but I would find it unlikely that you only got FA for a single school year…

This thread is crazy. Hate to say it but I am glad my child is not going to any of your schools. I wouldn’t want him to be your roommate! You probably should keep your financial situation mum when you get to school if you want to have friends.

Cariar, I suggest you NOT request FA from Choate at this point just so you have another “viable option”. Visit the school first and if you are sure Choate is the school you like most, then tell them how much financial aid you “need” and that if they can meet your need you will definitely attend. They may or may not “meet your need” but at least you tried. Promptly turn down your choices that are “out of running” please to give others on the WL a possible chance.

(A side note: I hope you have got all “sides of the opinions” on this issue already, so feel free to move on)

This thread rates up there (down there?) for nauseating chutzpah, along w the one from the dad who wanted to know how to get a waiver for paying the application fee, then asked where the good skiing places were in New England, even though the resorts probably wouldn’t be as good as where the family is used to skiing at Jackson Hole.
