Hi there,

I'm applying to the MA in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia this year, and am really curious to hear from anyone who has any familiarity with the admissions process for this program, whether having attended, been rejected, etc.

I took my GRE and got a 600 verbal, 470 quantative, 5.5 analytical. On my practice tests for the GRE, I was scoring a 700 - 720. Taking it again in a few weeks to see if my real score can match that score, but if it doesn't, 600 is what I've got...

What do you think about that score?

I went to a small liberal arts college that didn't require that English majors do any substantive research. So, I have no research paper to put forth as something I'd like to build on. Additionally, I've been out of school for three years now and don't hold a job in my field, though I do have a successful career in marketing.

My GPA was a 3.3. I studied abroad, participated in various travel programs and cultural activities on campus, and I have great recommendations from three professors whom I am very good friends with (dinners at their house, babysitting their kids, etc.).

What are my chances for Columbia? ANY insight would be so awesome to hear and very much appreciated.
