i dunno, they must have miscored my answers, but all for the better!

sadly, i am one of the few dumb peps on this forum :( 79th percentile on math!!! how much worse could you GET!!??

You could get a lot worse! Don't worry about it, they aren't looking at just your SSAT scores, they're looking at what kind of person you are.

Agreed ex2.

Surely you jest dxu33. These are super SSAT scores - see other ATPS thread.

ATPS thread? what is that?

"ATPS"

Sorry was rushing I meant Applying to Prep School where you stated your excellent scores. Yes dxu33 you did do well on the verbal reasoning.

I believe poor ssat scores will not keep you out of the top schools. Other factors will come into play that will negate a poor ssat score. Grades, EC's, recommendations, and a superb interview will outweigh the ssat.

Hey guys, Is anybody considering Choate Rosemary Hall>

I'm a graduate of Choate (Class of 1975)
Besides being a wondefully academic institution, I've had a blast there... so please don't get too obsessed with Exeter/ Andover!! Although they are fine schools, Choate offers the well-rounded education that people should have.

For those who are applying, how are applications going? (I recall in my days there were some weird questions that PEA/PA didn't have). Feel free to drop me a message for any questions.

CHOATE ROCKS!!

Have not been back for a couple of months. Hello everyone. Been busy with apps, trip to Asia, and work.

We are applying to PEA, PA, Groton, Deerfield, and SPS. We visited Milton, but my son didn't like it and we didn't continue application. My college roommate went to Choate and I recall she said it was very lonely for her and thought school was okay. So left impression on me. I'm sure it is great like all the other schools.

My son's top choice right now is SPS and Groton since he likes small school, community environment, but we went ahead and completed all the apps. He did well on his SSATs (99%), interviews went well so far, essays seemed strong (but who knows), and recommendations are all in. We're just waiting to see at this point.

We are still not sure of sending him away, but I went to boarding school when I was young and it was a lot of fun. We're just wondering whether we are prepared to send him away as parents. Also have been hearing that there is a lot of drugs and drinking at BS. But that really is everywhere and up to the child. He's going to have to make his own choices about these things. Just scary for us.

Read a great book this weekend called How to Stay Connected with Your Teenager. Suggest as a great read for parents on this board.

Hey, if you accepted to Choate, then go there, it's awesome!!

Tried to respond in a PM but you're over your limit.

Just a comment-- everyone always comments on the "big community" of Exeter, and when I went, I was sure that I was going to be in a "Mean Girls"-esque experience where I would know few people and would either eat lunch in the bathroom or sit with people I had no interests simply so I wouldn't be eating alone.

But it's really not... At Exeter, there's always someone sitting at a table who shares an interest with you, and so many clubs to join, that you'll seldom eat alone, and even eating alone can be nice for thoughts.

Don't get me wrong--Exeter definately has its fair share of real female dogs and sons of unwed parents that you want to spontaneously combust (lol, jk) but there are so many cool people that it totally outweighs the bad.

Believe me, it's a lot smaller than it seems.

t
This thread seems to be sleeping,..............WAKE UP!

80% Ssats
strong app
very good 3 sport athlete
Any chance of admit at groton?

Groton, can you elaborate, you are a bit generic and too brief.
thanks and good luck to you

I currently attend an all-girl's private school in baltimore. It's known as one of the best schools in the area, but when i look at each year's matriculation list, about 5 people out of a class of 85 get into HYP (regular) and rarely does anyone get in early (except for athletes). i'm also applying to andover, exeter, middlesex, and lawrenceville for the coming year, where the percentage of students getting into the top ivies is much higher. i was wondering would it be better to stay at the school i am currently at, where i am probably in the top 10% of the class, or switch to BS, where i would be in the mid 50% of the class to get into a good college? also, i am applying for my junior year so i was wondering, is the transition from a pretty good private school to a top boarding school difficult? junior year is a very important year in terms of grades, and i don't want to fail because i am not used to the workload or level. is it hard to make friends because everyone already has their own groups?
thanks!

I'm applying to Choate. My interview went very well. The guy actually wrote me a letter telling me I did a fantastic job before I got to thank him. I loved the campus too. I hope I get in and I am confident because I have recieved all A's and A+'s in 8th grade and only a few B's last year. Plus my SSAT was 94 for Math and Reading with an 86 in verbal. Do you guys think I will get in? I do also compete in cross-country and tennis.

LOL, I just thought of you applying to Chode.

kitty - none of us can tell, really, theres a lot more besides wut u listed. we dont know wut choate is looking 4, and more. u seem to have a good chance, but who knows, really? who was ur interviewer, btw?

It was Patrick Dennehy
