Applying to Vanderbilt PAVE 2013

I'm considering applying to PAVE this year, but before I do, I want to get a couple of my questions answered.

I've heard that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and usually people get word back from the PAVE team in 2-4 weeks. My only concern is, if it's rolling admissions, and people have already been accepted in early December, doesn't that essentially make it more difficult to be accepted later on (say in January or February) because some spots have already been filled? The whole concept of rolling admissions worries me, especially because PAVE's deadline is way out in late April. How do they keep it fair for all applicants? In fact, a lot of the other more competitive summer programs that I'm looking at also have rolling admissions. I just don't want to be waitlisted, especially since the deadlines for several of the other programs I'm applying to are coming up pretty soon.

Thanks! (If anyone actually reads all of this, kudos to you!)

Oh, and also, about how long should my letter be? So far mine is 1 page double-spaced, but I’m worried that that may not be enough.

Rolling admissions are nice in the fact that you get to know early on if they accept you or not. That way, if you applied for multiple, you have the chance to choose. You’re right about it most likely being harder to get in the longer you wait. That shouldn’t discourage you though!
I have been accepted! I just found out a few days ago. My letter was roughly a paragraph, around 8-10 sentences. They asked for brief and I figured they didn’t want to keep reading super long letters. I guess that’s just me.
Best of luck! I hope to see you there! (:

That’s great to know! I’m going to apply as soon as possible, then. Thank you so much!
Wait, one more thing: did you double or single-space yours? I’m not sure what to do, since they didn’t specify. I guess it’s just a habit for me now since all my school assignments have to be double-spaced.

I went to PAVE last summer, and I am now going to be attending Vanderbilt this coming fall. Don’t worry about the rolling admissions. I applied in late March and was accepted. Apply now and you’ll be fine. Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to answer.

Great, thanks!

I didn’t double space it, but i’m sure if you do that it won’t really matter? (:
