Applying Undeclared the best way to go?

Does applying undeclared give you the best chance of getting in a college?

What are the advantages and Disadvantages?

Nope. It's just like applying poli sci or biology. However, if you've got the ECs/awards to back up your indicated major, many times saying that you want to major in music or Russian (some non-mainstream language) can give you a bit of an edge. Mind you, you NEED to have ECs to demonstrate an interest. Just putting down Swahili on your app w/ no EC involvement will immediately show adcoms you're playing the game.

Disadvantage:
If you were at a really selective college you may not be able to transfer to your major. Forexample you apply undecided to University of Pennsylvania it will be extremely hard to be accepted to their business school (Wharton) same with UCLA and Berkeley with engineering.. and many many other great colleges.

However, if you can maintain a 3.7-4.0 your first 2 years of college then it will be easier toget into the major you want.
