I'm thinking about all of you everyday as I head out to the mailbox!

no chicago mail

none today

Same here! I am wondering how this process works

not only did i not get uscga mail ..............but i didnt get any mail today! hunting the mailman is making us crazy.

I haven't posted in a while but my son was an alternate last year and it was around this time that he got his appointment. He had just about given up and the daily checking the mail was getting old, really old. I just want to tell all of you waiting who want this sooo bad to try to hang on a little longer. I know that many of you will be getting some excellent news very soon. Remember that 30-40 percent of appointments come from the alternate pool. It is really great that you have this support system and that you use it. Good luck to all of you!

No news today: hpflrent thanks for posting. I am just hoping if my S receive an appointment it is soon I would like him to spend a day there before making a final decision.

You're welcome! I am going to try to dig out the box that has all that original CGA stuff and his appointment letter. I am going to make a scrapbook eventually but for now it has all just been put in the box. I want to see what the date was on his appointment letter. I think that will really help me to be more helpful. I just remember that it seemed like FOREVER. If your S does go to visit, if I have the dates right from my son, classes end around the 1st of May and then finals. I think the 4th class kids for the most part (except those in summer school) will be leaving by the end of the second week of May for their summer assignments which include this year five to six weeks on Eagle plus five to six weeks at a small boat station or about 10 weeks on a cutter. Graduation is later in May and Pres Bush is speaking at commencement. I believe that is not open to the public though. I will write later when I find the correct info on the date for the appointment. I do remember there were a lot of kids that got them all at once around when he did. Hope that helps and my info doesn't just bring on more anxiety!

and about what day was this? The date April 23rd has been spoken a lot lately...

I will go check now and post the date.

FOUND IT!!

Since I would rather not narrow things down too much in order to maintain the privacy of my cadet, can I say that there was some contact initiated by the academy the last week of April, I'll say between the 23rd and 27th, that led us to believe he may be offered an appointment (checking his interest level at that late date), and then the actual call came about 10 days later which was the "official" offer of appointment. From what I have been told by the parents of other alternates who are now 4/c cadets, that was when there was a lot of activity as far as appointments for alternates. I just wish I could make this time pass quickly for all of you, but when one of the other posters mentioned around the beginning of May, I think that is a very honest assessment. Of course all of this is based on a prior year, not this year.
Again, good luck to all of you!

hpflrent: Thanks for taking the time to research and posted. My son is having a hard time making another college choice it almost like not in the civilian world interest him.

no news today

CB, Son spoke to his AO on Friday to let him know he's been sitting on a USNA appointment for a month waiting for word from the CGA...was told they are taking another look at Alternates next week and he may hear something after that...after hearing that I think he's going to send in his acceptance to the Naval Academy, as much as he wanted to attend the CGA, I don't think he wants to wait any longer, much less risk his appointment to the USNA, good luck and hang in there
