Appreciation for Tufts Admissions vibe

I just want to express my appreciation for the human touch and humor Tufts admissions has interjected into the application season. From the blogs to the cheerful admission counselor photos on the website, I think Tufts does a fabulous job dispelling the notion that admissions committees are robotic destroyers of an applicant's hopes and dreams.

In fact, there are numerous examples on the entire Tufts website that make the university seem like a fun and welcoming place instead of something self important and stuffy. Tufts comes off confident and cheerful instead of staid.

So kudos. The positive vibe has made my son much, much more interested in Tufts.

That makes me smile! It’s always a challenge, but it’s much easier to reflect a quality that actually there, you know? Love my colleagues, love our students. I hope you’ll get to know them better - it’s an amazing experience.

I completely agree. They make their application process fun. I can see Tufts being the only school where I’ll look forward to filling out the supplement.

I wish we had been more clued into the Tufts Admissions folks before he applied. He likes Tufts, knows a couple people there and they are creatively and politically sympatico and very happy at Tufts so he felt good about it. But his essays are way too formal to get much Tufts admissions love. I think, after years of formal writing, he just didn’t feel comfortable letting go and making a mistake at something where the stakes are so high. Ironic. :frowning: it will be what it will be, and lesson learned. But it’s too bad because he is so funny and nerdy and hipstery…he would fit right in.

Because I also have much appreciation for the Tufts’ “vibe” I decided to respond to my ED2 deferral in what I hope is a Tufts-like response  Please check out my response!

I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus in appreciation of the Tufts Admissions vibe. My daughter is a sophomore in high school and she’s very interested in applying to Tufts. She was trying to make some decisions re. courses for next year and she asked me to contact someone at Tufts to get some input. I sent out an email yesterday afternoon and received a thoughtful and encouraging response from our area admissions counselor within two hours. I was impressed!

I agree. My brother is interested in Tufts and has made a couple of calls only to be greeted by friendly voices.

I agree. I find the blogs and information very well done.
Does Tufts do any type of early write letters of do I have to wait until 4/1/13?

You have to wait. There are no early letters. Last year we found out on march 29. Same day as all the Ivies.

Thank you so much. Tufts is listed as 4/1 this year. The Ivies are 3/28. Hopefully Tufts will do the same thing this year and at least post on 3/28.

As soon as we set the release date, we’ll announce what it will be on our Admissions Facebook page - follow it, and you’ll be the first to know.

Thank you very much. I will definitely follow the Admissions Facebook.

The Admissions blog is the reason I applied to Tufts. Dan (and everyone else), you rock.

Hopefully my essays are Tufts-y enough! I can’t wait to find out.

Yes I think Tufts ranks highly in my D’s wish list. Of 9 apps, we know 4 results, waiting for 5 over the next 2 wks…
