@mccurk UConn is good, however it becomes out of state for us. A little too pricey. Given the choice, probably would have him attend URI.
@knn9413 One on the nice things about URI is that the merit scholarships only come with a minimum GPA of 2.8. Also summer classes are half price. Good time to catch up or move ahead. My son joined the international engineering program after he started. That is very popular. Now a junior with a girlfriend who commutes, living in campus is not interesting for him and he will be commuting also. Very inexpensive.
The Engineering building project has three phases: huge new building built, historic building refurbishment and a third phases which includes New facility recruitment.
Again I highly recommend AP Chemistry if possible. Worth the pain.
BTW His math SAT is very good. He should be fine with Calculus. There is a tutoring center which he should not hesitate to visit if needed.
