Are you guys ready, we have 2 WEEKS LEFT!! So how are u guys doing on your practice test and what not? What are you doing to prepare, and what score will you be satisfied with?

I'M NOT READY !!!!! AHHHH!~!!~

SDLKFJDSKL:SDFJSDFL:

IM FREAKIN FREAKING OUT OVER HERE

Right now I've been reading the old archives from last year to see if there is any hope for me whatsoever, and I'm listening to Gloria's song ♪I will survive♪ to calm my nerves. I'm going to take my first practice test today and try as hard as I can to get some REA reading in, but I have soo much school homework. It's like I wanna cry but I don't even have time to do that.

Man i feel your pain, I have to make my own DBQ from the time period of 1891-1900(with docs and everything..), and i'm just stuck because i have to come up with a controvesial question...man this sux. I wish i could have gotten like 1951-1960 ...i could come up wit sometihng creative about that time period. Well i just took a practice test..and i only got 66%(ouch), haha i guessed i skipped too many. I wonder what my score would be if i wrote just an ok fre and dbq..i'm at least hoping for a 3!!

You guys have to make up your own DBQs?? What kinda bull is that? lol is that how you all practice?

Maybe I'll be so nervous as to misspell my name and get a -1. First negative grade in history! Hah, history. How ironic.

Wouldn't it be funny if someone wrote a whole, coherent essay on why history is useless and how they learned over the year that history repeats itself and there is no need to study this topic? lol they'd probably give the poor kid a 0 for "off topic".

Hahah ya i was trying to figure out why we actually have to make our own DBQ. It will only help someone on the ap exam that actually gets asked a question about the time period they had.

Not worried at all...hahaha. Took a practice exam today at school and I'm pretty sure I pimped it. Yeah, after AP Euro (last year), AP US seems like a walk in the park.

EDIT:

And Cali, for your DBQ, why don't you cover the 1896 election? Seems legit enough...or you could cover something to do with imperialism.

That's a good idea Cannednish..haha i didnt even think about it yet since it's due on thursday..well i really appreciate the suggestions! What was your MC percentage on your Practice Test..and what book did u use?

Just wondering...I want to do all my studying in 2 hours (Euro I studied for 1 hour and i did fine)...is the U.S. test big on details? Cuz i did better in euro than i did in U.S. and i really dont feel like studying.

Is a 75% a 5? I just took the 1996 practice test and I guess I did OK... I think it would be at least a 4.

I think it's a 5. With strong essays it's definitely a 5

Cali: Average on MC, I miss 10 out of 80...and essays range from 7-9.

Here is the 1996 rubric (our teacher gave it to us). I doubt it's changed too much:

Section 1 Multiple Choice:

Number correct - (.25 x number wrong) = Multiple choice score (round to nearest whole number)

Section II Free Response:

Question 1 (DBQ, 0-9 points) = Free response part A

Question 2 (FRQ, 0-9 points) + Question 3 (FRQ, 0-9 points) = Free response score part B

[4.5000 x Free Response score part A] + [2.7500 x Free response score part B] = Weighted section II score (do not round)

Composite Score:

1.1250 x Multiple Choice score = Weighted Section I (do not round)

Weighted Section I + Weighted Section II = composite score (round to nearest whole number)

117 - 180 = 5
96 - 116 = 4
79 - 95 = 3
51 - 78 = 2
0 - 50 = 1

Haha ya you definitely dont need to prep. Ya APUSH is my best subject..haha but i'm only good at memorizing what i need for every individual test, not 200+ yrs!!

My teacher is giving us quizzes every day, and he's been giving us more essays and the like to prep for the AP. I'm panicked, but I think I'll do well enough on the essay part to get a 4 (at least).

Review? We're still finishing the book. Go figure. =|

haha wow....ya but my teachers review kind of sux..so i'm just using REA

I took the exam last year, and the DBQs/FRQs were not that bad...(and this is coming from someone who HATES writing essays)

The key thing that our teacher stressed was to include as many SPECIFICS as possible...the graders love it when you mention specfic acts, treaties, people, events, etc. This is especially helpful on the DBQs. Look at when some of the documents are dated, and try to incorporate several other events/acts/people during that time period (which ofcourse are relevant to the topic).

Even if you are not a strong writer, it still shows that you know your stuff (which is what they look for)

So in regards to your question, I would definitely make a list of acts/treaties/people, that you have trouble remembering, as you are going through your book. Then the day before the exam, just quickly go thru you list, and you should be fine...

I hope this helps...GOOD LUCK!!!
