Architectural internships for high school students?

Do architectural firms ever offer job shadowing opportunities to high school students? I know that kids with parents who work in these firms may be able to land a position but I'm not exactly in that kind of situation. Most big name firms seem annoyed at high schoolers even asking since there are so many college interns anyways.

Btw I live near Dallas and ft. Worth if it helps any.

How can I land a job shadowing opportunity with virtually no connections?

(well my art 1 teacher from freshmen year used to be an architect and really likes me (even recommended me for AP art and this art program at a respectable museum). Would it be too much to ask if he could help me find an internship/job shadowing position?)

look at the Krinsky Internship program at penn, they have a number of architecture internships. also check out AASAPenn, and architecture program at penn
