So i recently have been trying to complete my college applications to some schools and i really want to go into architecture, however i am not an artist, or at least i haven't taken any art classes. I'm looking for good reputable architecture schools where i don't need to submit a portfolio. I have taken CAD and am taking an architecture design program right now, but the first semester is online and second semester is design so i can't make the hand drawn portfolios.

my stats are 3.85 GPA, 31 ACT, and hardest classes at my school. I had an architecture summer internship in israel, at least 200 volunteer hours (not at camp), honer society, have been teaching Hebrew for 4 years at a religious school (im fluent), and play varsity tennis and ultimate frisbee. Took AP english 11 test and got a 5, im taking the calc BC, english 12 and physics C test this may

im looking for more competetive schools, like columbia, berkely, U of T at austin, cornell (not for architecture though cause it needs a dang portfolio)

try to raise your GPA and you’ll have a higher chance of getting into Berkeley. A 3.85 UW is below Berkeley’s average, and Berkeley weighs GPA more than they do test scores.

BTW, if you know how to use CADD, you’ll be fine in architecture. you’ll just have to be imaginative… maths are also required but not by much.

OP - Are you looking for a professional degree in architecture (i.e., Bachelor of Architecture - BArch) or a degree from a highly ranked school? Some of the highest rated architecture programs are not at the highest ranked schools, and most of the highest ranked schools don’t have BArch programs. For example, neither UC Berkley nor Columbia have BArch programs.

Okay so update:
i have gotten into UT austin school of architecture, and i went to visit there and it is amazing, they really want me. However, Columbia and Upenn still haven’t gotten back to me and i was wondering if i do get in to one of those schools, is their architecture program better that UT’s? what are your experiences with architecture there? I figure i have a good chance of getting in there because UTSOA is very hard to get into, like 9.5% acceptance for instate students, much lower for out of state (which i am)

Take QuietType’s advice and post your question on the CC Architecture forum. There are many helpful posters who I’m sure can offer insight on all three programs.
